The power button on the remote puts the machine into hibernation. Is there any way to change this to sleep?

When the machine is asleep, I can't wake it with the remote. The only button that does anything is the power button and that only wakes the machine, not the display, to hibernate it. Is waking the machine with this/any remote not possible?

Thirdly, when using the guide search the numeric keys produce numbers rather than the required letters. Any way to change this?

The remote is black, not the current silver one on their site.
