    Media Center hardware survey

Greetings members of the Green Button community:

The Media Center team periodically posts a hardware survey to Microsoft Connect in order to update their records of potential beta testers.

By completing the survey below, you will automatically been entered into a pool of potential testers we can select from. If you are chosen as a Media Center beta tester, we will follow-up with an email when a beta will be available.

Please take a moment to complete the following instructions to access this survey

    1.       Go to http://connect.microsoft.com.

    2.       Please enter the following invitation code on the Connect main page, where it says “Were you invited to join Connect?”:

             WMC-JM7K-RRM6

    3.       Complete Survey.

You are only allowed to complete this survey once.

Please chose just one (1) dedicated PC for testing when responding to this survey.

If you experience any issues accessing this survey, please contact wmcbeta@microsoft.com.

    Best,

FYI - Do not click the link above.  If you look at the URL it is a link into Outlook Web Access, not connect.microsoft.com.  Use this instead: http://connect.microsoft.com, or type it in your browser.

    Hey Guys,

What are we testing here?  I'm trying to get an idea whether or not I'd want to participate, and which system I should provide specs for..  My main VMC system (listed in my signature below) or my previous DIY VMC system.

    Re: Media Center hardware survey

Bah!  I started it at work, but didn't know my "exact" processor name, so I had to quit.  Now it says I already took it.  I assumed as long as I didn't submit, I'd be okay.  Don't make the same mistake as me, take the survey when you have access to your media center computer.  Now I'm sad :(

I assume there's no way to get around this...

OH NO!  I started it too, at work... and then stopped...  because I wasn't sure which of my desktops I wanted to spec out...  my cablecard quad core, or my previous DIY VMC box...

    Re: Media Center hardware survey

Well that is a conundrum isn't it then mate,...?

Try this one on for size, I wish to beta test on a system I dont yet have. I want to build a system based on an Intel Core i7 920 with ASUS P6T Deluxe OC Palm Edition motherboard. I'll buy the parts as soon as they ship but I can't buy them before then now can I ;)

I guess I'll just use my Core 2 Quad based system then,...

    You can edit your survey.

    Go to your Dashboard
Click 'Windows Media Center Beta Program'
    Click 'Surveys' Tab

You will see 'edit' after the survey title.

I haven't been selected for any previous betas. I think it's my turn, Microsoft.

    Re: Media Center hardware survey

It'd be nice if the dropdown of 'what type of PC will you be testing on' contained a bit more than "Desktop" or "Laptop".

Suggestion: I would have thought something like a "Dedicated HTPC" option would be helpful, if you really want to get a feel for people's setups, and how they might use Media Center, MS.

It's a shame that I had to describe a sleek, quiet, box, sat in the living room beneath the TV, and above an equally slick external surround sound decoder (all laid out in true "hi-fi separates" fashion) as a 'Desktop'...
