hi Im new to media ctr. I want to build a pvr., but I cant get any of the tv packs to install.  Im running vista home premium with sp1.  Can anyone help please!!!!!!!!!!  Ive spent 3 days downloading updates.  Tried installing in order in which they came out. and no luck.  the verrsion of media ctr is 6.0.6001.18000

 You will save yourself a big migraine if you upgrade to Windows 7.

 dont have the money am considering linux.

I guess it depends on how your system was configured. I know this if you want ClearQAM and don't have a HDhomerun, you need the TV pack.

I had some minor bugs with the release of the TV pack but, over all I thought it worked pretty good, even if I am the only one...heh

Windows 7 is a worthly upgrade over Vista period...Not just with the TV pack. If your just going to go to Linux, download the trial of Windows 7 premium, try it for a week or 2 before you move over to MythTV (tried and still not impressed, MC is much easier to use and configure, just my thoughts), I think you will buy a version after useing it a little.

BUT, If you want help with the TV pack, do a little reading here...this should help

Yea, you need to have 2-3 drivers installed before you can install the TV pack. Glad I could help.

If you have problems with the TV pack (most people seem to), check out Win7 Media Center before moving to something else, it's a refined TV pack with a lot of extra features, trust me, it's a worthly upgrade for Media Center and no, I do not work for Microsoft.
