Everbody has a remote record but microsoft??

Now i see directv has one. Tivo, comcast dvr access, and Fios. When the h*ll is microsoft going to step up and do this.  It is completely ridiculous that a PC Media Center cant natively schedule recordings remotely.

I think they mean (and I also agree), a product from Microsoft, like...hmmm....Webguide  (didn't you guy hire Doug to do Webguide ? And he even showed a working prototype on Channel9....where is it ?)

Ah, the great irony of MCE. There are quite a few features that should be easy to implement on a PC yet somehow the development process of MCE makes it seem like its built to run on rigid propritery hardware that cannot be expanded. Its not just remote record thats missing, every day it seems like "ordinary people" are getting lots of stuff on set top and cable boxes that me "the power user" doesn't have. Suddenly, Im becoming the technology dinosaur just by using MCE.

     Truly bizarre.

    Yeah,

It was great that Doug got a job he wanted... but it's amazingly sad that all his talent and previous work is going to waste.  His GUI was as amazing as his elegant program!

I'm 100% sure that Doug's talent is not going to waste, he's just not working on stuff that not every end user sees. A while ago (over a year ago), it was taken up that they are working on something but, not sure if it will be called webguide(this was quoted off Channel9). Not sure if the project will be completed or not but, I hope so.

It is sad that a update to Webguide for WIndows 7 is not done. This would almost make my year (if I could stream recorded shows/music, then it would make my year).

I haven't used either product, but what could Webguide do that Remote Potato can't? I thought Remote Potato could stream.

that's the Microsoft Way: buy it and turn it to crap and/or kill it.
