Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuner Can't Tune to Certain Channels

Also, if you know how your cables are run in your house (I have a map, if you would believe it and it's a small house), I would try to run a short run (no splitters) and test, more of a direct from the cable line. If the cableguy checked your signal and it's ok by your media center, then never mind but, missing channels tend to start there... next thing is I would call them up and confirm everything is activated correctly (you are on the right package to get those hd channels, right ?)

I am still having problems getting the tuning adapter to be recognized by my system. All of the drivers are properly installed and the device manager see it fine....its just when I go into the ATI software, it doesnt detect it.  I have tried different USB ports...and the light is solid. Any more ideas?

Thank you for your advice. I had the cable guy out and he said everything was fine from there perspective. I have tried connecting a regular set top box and all the channels tune fine. These are all channels within the basic HD packages.

I had the same issue and had Cable (Time Warner) install single stream cards and that fixed it for me.

    Clarify?
If I read that right, you said that the ATI diag page (specifically, the Tuning Resolver tab) says "Tuning Resolver is not connected"?

What antivirus and firewall app(s) are you running on that computer?  Pretty much any third-party firewall (in other words, anything but the stock Windows firewall) tends to create pain for a DCT; doubly so for a TA - configuring the firewall can be a bit tricky.  Windows Firewall, OTOH, JustWorks with them, as it autoconfigures the rules needed to allow both the tuner and the TA to talk to the computer.

Thanks for you reply. I am not running any antivirus software. It is actually a very clean, fresh new install of Windows 7 Home Premium...and all the default settings.

What's the firmware number displayed on the ATI DCT page when you double click on your tuner in network?

"Pretty much" the same issue, or really the exact same issue?
All due respect, but, I'd suggest you start a new thread for your system.  It'll help you better, not having things get all mixed up here (assuming that the OP comes back to answer unresolved questions.)

New thread.  Post hardware specs on the machine, its software config (Very Important is AV/firewall software), what exactly does and does not work.
Did it ever work?  Any pattern to what channels are and are not tunable?
Do you even have a Tuning Adapter connected to the machine?  What cableco, what model TA (if applicable?)

Check if you have an "OCUR SDV service" in the Services MMC snap-in - I'm betting you don't.  To fix, uninstall the OCUR's drivers, then pull them down from Windows Update.  It should install the service for you then and the TA should work.

Yea that more or less fixed it for me. Seems that the uninstall/re-install of the ATI tuner and not the Tuning adapter is what fixed it. Who knows I am just glad its working!!

    Thanks!

The SDV service is installed as part of the OCUR drivers, not the TA drivers.  You basically weren't getting any SDV channels.
