    NinX Home Theater PC

There is a new brand of Windows 7 HTPCs on the market called NinX Media PCs. We offer four different models that vary on performance, video quality, storage capacity, sound quality, and other factors. Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Drive and TV Tuner are optional add-ons. We don't offer a bargain basement model and we don't offer a high-end production system. We are targeting the mid-market with a high-performance, high-quality, ultra quiet, fully-loaded Home Theater PC at an affordable price.

     See www.ninx.com for more information.

    thnx for the coupon code.....

The models look nice, good quality components, highend PSU and cases, which are often overlooked.  The MCE remote you have doesnt have the TV power on/ learning volume that the real microsoft one has, and it is a great feature.

Prices seem a little too high on accessories, the actual HTPCs seem to be a good price for what you get. it looks like you are working with 25% markup of buying from online retail and building yourself, which seems reasonable.  I like the components and attention to detail, like the fanless 4550.....

Do you guys preinstall HULU with MCE integration and other MCE plugins like shoutcast or mediabrowser.  Not sure of the TOS of any of those products, but that could be a really great service for people who don't otherwise know how to do it.

The HTPC market is an interesting one.... most people who even know they exist and want one are tinkerers and forum goers and therefore, most build their own... the Cable Card Bios crap forces some to buy prebuilt, but that is over.... so good luck, I hope you are able to do well and help to further the tech involved.

    a couple of ideas:

carry this little bugger for a simple keyboard/touchpad device

    http://efo.buy-lowest.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=180

it is cheap, well made, good battery life and does what it should, in a nice form-factor.

Sell Cable-Card Tuners (ATI is the only one out now, but centon (sp?) will be shortly)

And last, either carry HT speakers or dont, but computer speakers are crappy home theater speakers.... maybe partner with thespeakercompany and sell package deals.... could create a new meaning to Home Theater in a Box

    Re: NinX Home Theater PC

Thanks for the feedback. We dropped some of our accessory prices.

We pre-install Windows 7 Home Premium w/ Media Center but we don't pre-install other software for two reasons: 1) Our OEM distribution (which saves our customers' money) limits this practice, and 2) We find that most of our customers appreciate that there isn't a bunch of "junk" software on it when they start it up. However, we do provide software recommendations and setup assistance to ensure that our customers get what they need to fully enjoy their home theater experience.

I really like that keyboard/touchpad device. We'll look into offering it.

We do offer CableCards by request but it isn't one of our standard options because we are trying to keep the order process as simple as possible. A standard digital/analog TV Tuner is generally adequate for most people anyway. CableCards are expensive (around $300) and can be challenging to configure and the only benefits are premium channels and some HD content.

Yeah, we offer a pretty limited selection of computer speakers right now. In the future we'll have a much better selection.

    Thanks again!

     Matt

I wouldn't say that CableCARD is just for premium and some HD content. In my area of Seattle with Comcast, I now need CableCARD to tune to anything above channel 30.

    Re: NinX Home Theater PC

We recently added a Windows Home Server (WHS) computer to our product line: http://ninx.com/niwihosew.html

It's more powerful (AMD Dual Core + 4 GB RAM) and has more out-of-the-box storage capacity (3 TB) than most other Home NAS systems. It can support up to 6 TB with hot-swappable drive bays.
