.WTV files (except for 2 FOX recordings) are not streaming to Orb for me, and I want to be able to watch my recordings while on vacation.
So I am trying to set up something to auto-convert them to h264 encoded MKVs.
I tried creating a conversion to low bitrate MKV profile in DVRMSToolbox, and the output was streamable in Orb, but none of the VCR controls worked in either Orb or Media Player, and clicking to jump ahead in Media Player would in fact cause it to crash. Divx Player warns that these MKVs appear corrupted.
Creating new copies of the MKVs by running them through MKVMerge from mkvtoolnix fixes them, so I guess I need to create a DVRMS profile to do this, deleting the intermediate .mkv but keeping the .WTV.
Does anyone have a profile made to do something like this? I am finding the profile editing in dvrms toolbox to be very unintuitive.
Can MCEBuddy be set to not delete the .WTV files? (and if so how, I haven't played around with it yet)
One other thing I noticed about what files stream in Orb and what files don't is that the files that will play have the metadata shown when browsing in it (show duration, resolution, etc.), and have a preview pic shown. The files that won't play in it do not have this, so I'm thinking maybe it is failing to read the .WTV metadata? Converting them to .dvr-ms doesn't fix it, is there a tool that does?
