Hello Green Button Community:
Today, Microsoft announced
that Netflix movies and TV rentals are now available via Windows Media Center,
including more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes you can watch instantly via
the PC.
US-based Windows Vista users who are also Netflix members can simply
click the green button to start Windows Media Center on their PC and then
select the new Netflix tile under TV+Movies to begin streaming movies
and TV episodes.
People can also search the entire Netflix library, manage both
their instant and DVD queues and even filter searches by titles that are
available to watch instantly.Windows Media Center takes advantage of Netflix's
recommended category lists to make it even easier to quickly find the movies
and TV shows that consumers want to watch.
Netflix is the second recent content milestone in Windows Media Center, with the
first being the Sports
Channel, which offers a variety of interactive sports content from
CBSSports.com, FOX Sports, MSNBC.com and more. Additionally, last fall saw the launch of the MSNBC
News portal, which gives you the latest news, top stories, local weather and
more.
Check out some videos here, and other posts about the new feature.
How do I get Netflix in Windows Media Center?
Netflix in Windows Media Center began deployment on servers today. US-based users of Windows Vista Media Center will begin seeing the Netflix
tile over the next 48 hours. Selecting this tile will begin the download and
installation process.
Does this work on my Media Center Extender?
Netflix in Windows Media Center is not supported on a
Media Center Extender. Please note that a Netflix feature is already available
on an XBox 360. Today’s announcement concerns only the availability of Netflix
inside Windows Media Center on a PC, and continues the emphasis on
making Windows Media Center the best place to experience TV on your PC.
