    VOBs to DVR-MS w/ DTS

Currently, I am using VideoRedo to replace DVD VOB files into the DVR-MS container.  However, I’ve just been informed that VideoRedo does not support DTS.

Can some recommend a good program that will allow me to replace the VOB files into a DVR-MS container and preserve the DTS audio?

    Thanks!

Don't think you can do that, DVR-MS doesn't understand DTS (and thus most hardware will not play it correctly).  You can keep AC-3/DD however.

Thank you for the response, Chris.

I find that odd since the Xbox 360 HD player has been updated to process DTS.  Would you be able to recommend another file format that I can stream to the 360 while preserving DTS?

Confirmed.  DVR-MS will only support AC-3 or MPEG Audio formats for audio.

    AVI might work.

Xbox 360 Extender doesn't support AVI.  Sad [:(]  Even then, I doubt DTS in AVI would be correctly supported.

WOW, how can it not support AVI.

I'm almost positive that AVI can contain DTS (or are saying that even if the 360 supported AVI it probably wouldn't support DTS in AVI), I've never tried to make it though...

Anyone know an easy way to convert from DTS to AC3?

Easy?  Not that I know of, I think you would be looking into multi-step processes using stuff like BeSweet, etc.  Having said that, your best option would be a re-rip from the DVD and use the AC3 track instead of the DTS.  Your losing quality going from DTS to AC3, so I'd rather take the AC3 track on the DVD that was encoded from the source material.

DVD? People still watch DVDs? ;)
Some Blu-ray discs don't come with AC3, only DTS.

Sure but most BDs are not MPEG-2 either so that cuts your ability to put it in DVR-MS.  If you are trying to do BD with DTS to DVR-MS I'd look at Doom 9 (which I'm sure you already knew) to get info on DTS to AC3.

Yeah, I use VisualHub to convert to MPEG2 first. For my wife's movies I just convert to MPEG2 stereo audio, but that isn't good enough for me.

Besweet is the best I've found, but I was hopeful there was an easier way.

if there's was reliable directshow ac3 encoder filter, it wouldn't be hard to write a tool that did it.
