no, it doesn't for that you would need something like orb... ngRC is just for controlling your media center and for choosing music from your music library without the need to switch on your TV

Has anyone else come across / fixed the "access to the path c:/extenders.txt denied" error? Or am I and the 3 or so other posters earlier in this thread the only people in the world who have encountered it?

I created c:\extenders.txt and gave all users full control, still no dice. Would love to get it working as there's a psp and an iphone in this house

this is pretty cool, but it would be a whole lot cooler if it could control my movies as well.  not sure if anyone is working on that or not, but i think im going to give it a shot.  shouldnt be too hard, just some SQL and a hook into the MM js files. if anyone has started this, shoot me a message, id be interested in hearing what you've come up with so far.

Just to clarify, has anyone gotten this to work in Vista 64 or Windows 7 x64? I cannot get this to work in Windows 7 x64 or Vista x64. I keep getting "Cannot connect to MCE/VMC" whenever I load the app on my browser. Thanks in advance, this seems like a great app, but I can't get it to work.

Did you change the permissions on C:\Program Files\ngRC such that all users have Full Control?

Sigh.   I want to do just one thing, and that's turn on Radio Paradise from the office without going to the TV.   Got ngRC working great (need to tweek the firewall and change the permissions on the ngRC directory to let all users have full control).   The problem is the way I do Internet Radio is to save the station as a playlist in WMP, and then it appears in my playlists under VMC.   Unfortunately, when I click on one of these I get a Java NPE:

    Apache Tomcat/5.5.26 - Error report

Tomcat disables Microsoft remote control functions

I am using ngRC in Windows 7 RC and it is great except for a couple of bugs which need fixing. In particular, once Tomcat is running, I find that several functions on my normal Microsoft remote control cease to work.

These include volume control, back button, stop and pause. I have to exit MCE to stop the music! I assume the disabling of functions on the ordinary remote is unintended as I find it great to be able to use my iPhone or, if I am out with my iPhone and my partner wants to use the MCE, the standard Microsoft MCE remote.

As a test, I disabled Tomcat and rebooted and these functions returned, so this disabling does seem to be caused by the Tomcat service. If there is a fix for this, I'd love to hear about it. Many thanks for a wonderful product.

I have the same problem on Win7 rc x64

I didnt have a problem with the x86 version tho.  The only difference I can see if that when I was running x86 the extenders.txt file was located in the nrgc folder and now on x64 it is located in c:\ which I believe is the problem as the extenders dont have access to the root of c:\  My media center is working perfectly with ngrc its just I cant use any of my extenders with ngrc

Just fixed this now. Its all down to security.  What needs to be done is to make the extender user an administrator.

To due this do the following.

    Go to the control panel
    Select administrator tools
    Select Computer management
    Select local users and groups
For each mcx user double click on it and within the member of tab make sure you add administrator.

I now have ngrc fully working on my windows 7127 x64 with my 3 extenders.
