    Vista MCE and USB UIRT?

Will the USB UIRT play nicely with Vista MCE?  I dont need any IR blasting, only IR receiving from my Harmony 880 remote.  I know the USB UIRT drivers work under Vista 32bit, just not sure if MCE will utilize it, or if I have to get the MCE remote sensor?

Also, if I plan to get a SideShow remote later on, do I need to be concerned over which of the above setups I use, or is Sideshow all done through Bluetooth?

I have not had any luck getting my USB-UIRT to work with vista. I was able to have HIP recognize the device but I could not setup VMC because it said that no IR device was found. Any progress on your end?

I've been too busy trying to track down issues with my sound card at the moment to work on the USB UIRT.  Maybe this weekend.

Were you able to make any progress over the weekend?

no luck.  Got frustrated with it, and spent the rest of the weekend messing with EVO and m2ts files.  I think I am just going to get the MCE remote for $35 or whatever it costs if all else fails.  I did get my Silverstone case's iMon remote to work, but I hate the physical remote, so maybe I can map it into my Harmony 880 and be happy.

    Hi,

Any update?  I'd really like to get my MX-700 up and running with Vista MCE.

    Thank you,
    Sean

My update is that I forked out the $$ for the MS remote and IR receiver.  Then I programmed my Harmony 880 for the MS MCE remote.  Done deal.  Now I am back to my EVO/M2TS to MKV work so I dont have to deal with PDVD7 issues.

For me, the remote is all temporary until I get one of those new SideShow remotes with BT!  Hope they come out soon....

I'm not sure why the driver for USB-UIRT has not been created yet.  I came across this PowerPoint slide show from Microsoft that provides clear instructions on how to build a transceiver unit for Media Center.

The slideshow is available at: http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/8/f/98f3fe47-dfc3-4e74-92a3-088782200fe7/TWEN05007_WinHEC05.ppt

The license for the Microsoft/Philips protocol (RC6) is also free and available by contacting: remotemc@microsoft.com

There's even instructions for writing the port driver....
So, what's the hold up, here?

I gave up too and I order the official Microsoft receiver.

My application Intelliremote will allow you to use the USB-UIRT with MCE and any other application you want.
