Are there any instructions for this program? I am able to mark in and out, but then when I go to save, I keep getting errors.

Same here. No problem marking in and out, but shortly after saving there's this error message: "Saving AppendEx:0c00d0bbf"

Add-on: There always is a second error message directly after clicking away the first one: "Saving - Thread exited with error: 0x00d0bbf"

was working fine for me - however now i'm getting " this program as encountered a unexpected error and will have to shut down " then asks if you want to send the data to microsoft. Anyone else getting this?

I like the program; I just wish it had been finished. Short programs are fine, but full movies are always difficult -- and in some cases, impossible. If I try to remove 4-6 comercials, it never works, and sometimes removing 1 or 2 commercials isn't any better. It doesn't crash for me --- just hangs. The time-counters don't work all the time: I can start with a 2hr movie, break it into a couple of segments, and it read something dumb like, total segments 220mins. Real shame since there's nothing out there to do this that doesn't cost a bunch of money.

I have problems with episodes of shows like Sapranos recorded from HBO. Movies usually work fine, but for some reason, these shows will dsplay fine at first, then when I try and play them they hang and I loose all audio. Makes it impossible to edit. Any body have any suggestions?

You have to change the name of the file when saving. It will look the same when you go to your recorded tv section.

I changed the name and still I am getting: "Saving - initialize failed, error... Is your version of sbe.dll too old?" Any ideas?

This is a great program. Very simple to use, especially if you want to take a short clip out of a large recorded file.

You know what's probably the problem for some of you guys: SLOW OLD COMPUTERS LACKING SUFF. RAM! That's why it's ok for small clips, but freezes or crashed for bigger ones. Throw that old piece of junk away and upgrade to a Pentium M with 2 Gigs of memory and see if you still have problems :)

I use Version 1.0 quite a lot. I love its simplicity. When are we going to get the MPEG conversion working?

i want to convert the dvrms file to mpg so i click on tools then dvr to mpg at the top and a message comes up that says: "not yet implemented"... how do i "implement" this???

Hey i have DVR Edit and use it mercilessly -- though for best results, you HAVE TO HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 -- i always hate doing those stupid windows updates, but this program works like clockwork for me when i have everything current. In fact, if you dont have SP2 (not the latest version, if you don't have Service Pack 2 at ALL), you will never be able to save a file and always get some "not implemented" or "error 6.00 something".... good luck

How do you use this program? How do you even cut stuff out? I know how to mark in and mark out, but how do you delete the selection? By using the cross? But that doesn't work!

all you do is mark the sections you want to keep and then do file->save as.

I agree with Hagge. DVR-Edit has worked flawlessly with Service Pack 2 and a computer built to handle large video files (mine is a Dell XPS 2.8Ghz, 2Gb RAM). This prog may be a little rudimentary but at least THIS little nicety is free!

i am using the beta 2 of windows vista and after seeming to work perfetly at first, when i tried to save the program would crash and the file, that was saved wouldn't work (at least not for the media center or media player). is this the programs fault or is it just for the use with winXP?

OK for viewing dvr-ms files and for extracting a clip but conversion to MPG is not available. Pity. Which program should I use?

i've got an opteron170 (dual core 64), and 2 gb of ram, it worked great the first couple times i used it, now freezes when i try to save. So 2 gb isn't sure fire

I have been using it for years now with very little problems. Its best not to have other programs running while working in this program. I watch Spanish Telenovelas and cut out all the commercials and am able to save the final product so I watch the 40 minutes without any interuptions. Just keep trying. Basically you get wht you pay for.

I'm able to mark in & out and save it under a different name, but when I watched it, it was the same. The commercials weren't taken out. I need someone to school me in on what I've done wrong. I need a step by step button explanation. Oh poop. :-(

Getting error "Saving - AppendEx: 0xc00d0bd9". I've been using DVR Edit for a long time and it has been fine for the one thing I want to do most which is cut segments out of recorded TV shows. I reinstalled my Media Center recently and I can record and watch TV fine. Any ideas why I might be getting this error?

Pretty cool program. Using MCE 2002. It works fine; except, when I have multiple saved segments set up... it tends to stall when (im guessing) moving to the next segment. As a work around I save multiple segments. And then use append recording to make a complete file. When intially played it displayed incorrect time length (it played fine). As a fix, I merely open the file in Edit program again and saved it. Video plays fine with correct time. On this machine I have about 1.5 GB RAM. Hope this helps someone.

Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong? The editing program works fine BUT when I go to burn onto a DVD it starts up but immediately stops with an ERROR message and then ejects the DVD. WHAT GIVES???

@ gogsoman47: I think the error message is telling you that the program itself doesn't yet support converting to MPG, but hopes to in the future. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) There's nothing you can do about it, unless you can assist the program's creator by implementing the feature yourself.

I've been using this on XP MCE SP2 to cut out commercials from a lot of recordings including 4 hour Tour de France and other cycling races that are multi-hour and it works great. I sometimes use EditDvrmsMetadata along with it. I haven't dabbled with converting to MPG or Avi/Divx/Xvid for archival, however. I just use it so that I can watch the shows in MCE and burn to DVD if I need to.

i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but when i cut then clear all segments then save and then open the saved file it has not saved the editing. am i missing any steps.? this will Truly be a God-send for me if i can figure this out i have tried Countless app's with no luck to replace media center for just this reason. I could use step by step instructions too. Do they exist? I've been using Digital Medial Converter to convert to wmv and then Blaze Media to edit. Editing the original file might be easier.

I got it working on vista at this moment in fact... it works great for me (although I didn't try to convert or anything else but yust cutting out parts of my video file) I had no problems installing or whatever, no compability problems with vista

I am trying to use your DVR-Edit Tool to convert a bunch of MPG files to DVR-MS to improve video navigation using operation. When I attempt the conversion process I receive the following error. “failed to add ptots filter to graph 0x80004003”, followed by Error connecting to pins: 0x80004003. Anyone else seen this on Vista?

I just tried it to edit a small section from a file and worked just fine for me.

Are you supposed to be able to hear the audio when playing dvredit because I can't and its hard to know where to start and end the clip?

i have a 3.6 p4 with 2 gigs of ram, so i know it's not the pc. i hit the "eject" symbol to bring in a file and the program just freezes. used to work for me.

I have been using DVREdit for a few months with no problems but today I got an error: "Saving - Initialize failed, error: 0x80070002 Is your version of sbe.dll too old?" I seem to have several versions of sbe.dll, but no idea where they came from or where to find a newer version. I came here to check if there are any newer versions of the software available, but I seem to have the latest version. Found a comment by xinyidai in 2006, but I can't see any replies. I have WinXP SP2 & MC 2005

I have used this for ~3 years and worked like a charm. Just recently it started to behave strangely, it might be the Service Pack 3 upgrade but it still works. You need to save the file with another name. I have a Dell Pentium 4 3.4GH with 1 G Ram.
