TV Pack Questions Answered by Charlie Owen

Charlie Owen will be answering questions about the Media Center TV Pack (Fiji) as soon as Microsoft makes the official announcements, so if you have any questions about things that may have been rumored now would be the time to submit them.

I will also finally be able to talk in depth about stuff including what is in/out of Fiji, the possibility of a second Media Center release, and Windows 7 around this timeframe.  If you have questions or comments for me to get a non-Microsoft response let me know.

Can we have details for why the HD processing was removed, and if there are plans to make it available before Win 7?

Hi Chris. I think the cat is pretty much out of the bag. If someone wants to know what features are included they can read the engadgethd article.  If someone wants to know if it's true that fiji doesnt include support for direct tv  they can read the engadgethd article.  All about MS just posted an article pretty much confirming fiji as oem only and explained how the testers were upset.  The AAMS article goes to state that direct tv support and h.264 have now been officially pushed to windows (late 2009).

Sorry but what exactly is Charlie going to "explain" in two weeks.  Why doesn't he post a question on his blog "Why do think we yanked features and made fiji OEM?" .

Sorry, if I sound a little pissy but really,  we need charlie's or MS's explaination now, not in two to three weeks.

Chris, I think questions around TV Pack 08 are now for the most part redundant and water under the bridge, as we know what it does and doesn't do. The big questions are where to we go from here, and if it is Windows7 does Charlie think that it is reasonable to leave the product hanging for such an extended period of time.... or as we all would like to see will they bring out another update in 6-12 months that moves things on.
